| We walked down the beach a little ways. Here you can see the resort in
the background. The water was very rough and it was very windy. The advantage:
no bugs. |
 |
| I was still looking pretty pasty white here, wasn't I? |
 |
| Almost all the palm trees we saw had huge bunches of unripe coconuts.
We also saw lots of fallen, broken ones all over the ground everywhere. |
 |
| We left Patillas and drove west along the southern shore of the island.
We ended up at a gorgeous resort in Guanica called Copamarina. The resort
had been recommended by the manager of the Caribe Playa resort we had left
earlier that day. We were not looking for a place this expensive but when
we saw it we fell in love with it and said "what the hell - it's vacation!"
The Copamarina Beach
Resort also has a web site. |
 |
| Around the grounds of the resort were several cages with (mostly) parrots.
They would call out as we walked by: "Hola!" or "Hey!"
or whistled like construction workers at a pretty girl. The talked and squawked
all day long, making it sound like we were in a jungle. They went into their
little houses at dusk, slept all night, and came out again at dawn. |
 |
| These birds were in a cage right across from our room. This picture was
actually taken the next day but I wanted the bird pictures to be together. |
